Precautions

1. Read - One of the most popular reasons people feel that they were scammed is because they didn't read. Sites have a policy for a reason. Read their disclaimers and policies before you purchase anything.

2. E-Mail the sites owner - After you read all potent information to your purchase, always e-mail or contact the websites owner. If they don't respond, don't purchase anything. You want to get an email from them letting you know you're safe when conducting business with them. Save that e-mail.

3. Check their shopping cart system - If they don't look legit, they probably aren't. Of course there are exceptions, but that's very rare. Look at how they have the purchasing process set up. See what types of payments they accept. There are way too many websites out there for you to settle with a site that looks suspicious or doesn't meet your needs.

4. Ask 4 References - Nothing better than good ol' word of mouth to ease your mind. Of course, just like anything, references can be phony, but not many sellers take the time go do all of that. Check web forums, chat rooms, etc.......and ask people have they ever done business with the seller before.

5. Make sure it's in STOCK - There's nothing worse than placing your order only to have an e-mail sent back a week later stating they don't have the shoes.

6. KNOW YOUR PRODUCT - Get some info on what you're buying. Make sure the seller can provide you with multi-angle pictures of whatever you are purchasing if it from a small site or individual seller. Also, if the product is from an individual seller, make sure they can provide pics with something stating their names in the pic. Watermarks are simply to easy to reproduce.

Ebay Concerns - Ebay has become one of the top sites in the world to get goods, but with that also comes the increased probability of getting counterfit products, ESPECIALLY Nike's. I can't stress the fact enough that consumers need to READ the auction descriptions on Ebay.

a) BEWARE of low quality pics.
b) If the pictures have a name on them (via a sign in the pic or watermark), make sure the name matches the name of the person/company you are buying from. That is one of the easiest signs of fraud.
c) CONTACT the seller!! Ask for multiple photos of the shoe and THE SHOE BOX.
d) Check to see if the seller has other items. If you spot one fake shoe, don't buy from that seller.
